I try to maintain compatibility with iOS 3.x as much as I can. For the most part everything works ok. However in 2.0.3 there is a serious bug that prevents the app from loading. I have fixed this in 2.0.4. Sorry.
The iPad interface started off as a resized iPhone one. While it has since been heavily modified to take advantage of the new interface elements, I wasn’t using popovers until now. I am currently looking at additional parts of the UI where a popover might be more be more appropriate. Feel free to make suggestions.
As usual I am fixing bugs and issues people report in 2.0.3. This is the current change log for the April release
This is a service update that fixes bugs
1. improved UI, adopted new icon set
2. fixed bug where offline roster was not loading on some servers
3. discover and search XMPP user directory
4. Added detailed help pages
In my effort to make Monal look better, I recently stumbled upon the Glyphish free icon set for mobile devices. I now know where most apps get their tabbar and toolbar icons from. The next release will switch from the KDE Crystal theme I’ve used since the beginning to the much more iOS appropriate Glyphish theme.
2.0.3 is available in the App Store. Let me know if you have any problems
Talked to Apple. I will have to go back to the 10 minute multitasking for now, I might be able to bring it back later. I am resubmitting 2.0.3 today and it should be available in a few days.
I’m making some progress on getting the new version approved. I should know for sure whats going to happen Monday afternoon.
The initial build of 2.0.3 has been rejected. I am working with Apple to resolve it. Obviously the next release is delayed. Monal 2.0.3 will certainly be released, it might just have some features turned off.
The blogspot blog the served as the home for Monal will continue to exist for historical reasons and also because the article I wrote about the security weaknesses of Facebook chats XMPP implementation still draws a lot of traffic.
Monal has grown significantly since it’s release. I think this site will better serve the needs of the everyone using it. In particular, I think the help section will answer the most common questions.
